The walk down the aisle
This ballroom is long, so the aisle is long, and a processional has to hold for the whole walk. Strings or a saxophone play it live, one focused light picks out the aisle, and the microphones for the vows sit quiet enough that nobody remembers they were there.
While guests find the bar
A trio, a solo guitarist or a saxophone over a DJ set. Loud enough to lift the room, quiet enough that a table of eight can still hear each other talk.
Speeches and first dances
Service runs long in a room this size, so the music sits underneath it and lifts for the toasts and the first dance. Speech audio, video playback and the timing cues all sit with the same crew, which is why the cues land.
When the room stands up
The band opens the floor, the DJ takes it from there, and the handoff is planned so it never empties. At this hotel that DJ has most often been Nathan, Oren or Jason, with a hand drummer and a saxophone coming in for the entrances.
The last ninety minutes
Lights drop, the beam rig comes up through the haze, and the ballroom turns into something closer to a club. This is the part guests describe afterwards, and it needs a DJ who is reading the floor rather than running a playlist.
A ballroom we have been rigging since 2018
The Beverly Wilshire’s main ballroom sits under a deep coffered dome, and that dome is the whole problem and the whole opportunity. It throws sound back at you if the system is pointed carelessly, and it takes a beam beautifully if the rig is hung where it should be. Our bookings here go back to 2018, and 29 of the 47 have been weddings.
That history is why our load-in is quiet and our set times land where the planner wants them. We know where the truss goes, where the speaker stacks disappear against the drape, and how far the floor has to be dimmed before one spotlight on the aisle actually reads.
It has also been steady rather than a single burst: five nights in 2018, four in 2019, two in 2020, none in 2021, then seven, eight, ten, eight and three from 2022 through to June 2026. Nathan has played the room fifteen times, Oren and Rouge ten each. Two of those nights carried a hand drummer, two a saxophone, and one brought dancers and an MC out alongside the DJ.
How the 47 bookings split: 27 nights were DJ-only, nine carried a band on its own, six had both, one was an AV booking and one was equipment rental.

Yes, and it is common here. The band carries dinner and the first dance sets, the DJ takes the room later, and the handoff is planned so the floor never empties.
Do you handle ceremony music as well as the reception?
We do. Strings, saxophone and hand percussion cover the aisle and the cocktail hour, and the same team stays through the reception, so there is one point of contact for the whole day.
Who handles the lighting and sound in the ballroom?
We can. Lighting design, uplighting, beam rigs, sound for the vows and speeches, and video playback are all in-house, and we size the system for this room rather than overbuilding it.
