Most of LIV’s Newport Beach work happens up in Newport Coast at The Resort at Pelican Hill, with more events at Balboa Bay Resort on the harbor and at Pendry Newport Beach. If you’re lining up live music for a wedding, a big birthday, or a company dinner in the city, this page covers the acts, what they cost, and how each room changes the plan.
What comes with a Newport band booking
- What it costs
- Two published starting points: around $5,000 for a party band and $7,000 for a wedding band, which is a five-piece with one singer and four players. More musicians, added production, or a longer night push the quote up from there.
- Sound
- The band brings a PA matched to the space. If the hotel insists on its own audio, the band plugs into the house system instead. Mics for toasts can run through the band’s setup too, so nobody is hunting for a handheld between courses.
- Lighting
- Add lighting and Vlad Bazaria, LIV’s in-house lighting designer, draws up the plan and sends renderings, so you can see how the room will look before anyone hangs a fixture.
- Lineup size
- Anything from a duo on a patio to a large party band for a ballroom dance floor. The musicians who play Newport are the same people who play our Los Angeles dates; they travel down from Culver City.
- Music
- Dance covers, wedding favorites, cocktail-hour jazz, Latin sets, and ceremony pieces. Send a list of songs you want and a list you never want to hear, and the band plans the night around both.

Janeiro
A trio that moves from swing to salsa to smooth jazz without swapping players. For a big Pelican Hill reception, Janeiro can hold the terrace during cocktails, then pick up the tempo once dinner plates are cleared.

Mood
The soft-spoken option. Mood plays low, polished jazz that fills a room without crowding the conversation, which makes it a good match for a rehearsal dinner, a private dining room, or a hotel reception at Pendry.

Sax feature
One player, one horn. Book sax to drift through arrivals or to play a big entrance. On a harbor-side terrace at Balboa Bay, a single saxophone carries across open air and needs almost no floor space.

How the plan changes from venue to venue
The first three are Newport properties where LIV has played. The fourth is for any venue in town that isn’t on that list yet.
The Resort at Pelican Hill
The Newport property we know best by a wide margin. A Pelican Hill ballroom has space for a full five-piece or larger, so this is where a big dance floor makes sense. Plan three musical stretches: something light for arrivals, a quieter set under dinner, and a dance set to finish.
Balboa Bay Resort
Balboa Bay sits on the water in Newport Harbor. If part of your evening happens outside, factor in the breeze, open-air sound, and how far guests will be from the players. A sax or a trio holds up better on a waterfront patio than a full rig does. Once everyone moves indoors, you can size up for dancing.
Pendry Newport Beach
Pendry is in Newport Center, a few minutes from Fashion Island. For a hotel party here, consider splitting the night: live players through cocktails and dinner, then a LIV DJ for the last hour or two if you want the energy to keep climbing. Mood or a compact party band covers the live part well.

Booked a hotel, a club, or a private home that isn’t on our list? Send the venue name, the specific room, and whatever vendor rules the coordinator gave you. Expect a few questions about power, stage footprint, and sound curfew before anyone suggests a lineup. That way the quote reflects the actual space.

Resort and hotel coordinators tend to ask about outside musicians in the same few areas. Having answers ready before you sign keeps both contracts moving.
Load-in and setup
Where the band unloads, how far the gear has to travel to the room, and what time the space opens for setup. Big properties often route vendors through service halls on a fixed schedule.
Power and weather
An outdoor set needs a power source close to the performance spot and a backup plan if the evening turns windy or damp. Find out whether a covered stage or tent is available.
Outdoor music cutoff
Plenty of coastal properties have hotel guests or homes close by, so outdoor music may need to stop or move inside at a set hour. Get that time in writing and pass it along.
