Short answer: LIV Entertainment Group has 31 San Diego events in its booking records, and 27 of them were at the Fairmont Grand Del Mar. The rest were hotel ballrooms downtown on the bay, in Mission Valley and in La Jolla. Our bands drive down from Culver City for weddings, hotel galas and private parties, with sound and lighting from the same crew.

These numbers come from LIV’s own event records for the City of San Diego, La Jolla included. They count every LIV booking at each property, bands and DJs together. We don’t split them into band-only totals we can’t back up.
Fairmont Grand Del Mar
Nearly nine in ten of our San Diego nights have been at this estate resort in the hills east of Del Mar. The record there is mostly weddings. It is also the one San Diego property where our records list the full package: bands, DJs, sound, lighting and AV. So if you’re planning a reception there, we already know the load-in, the power and how loud the rooms can go.
Hilton San Diego Bayfront
One LIV event on record. It’s a big waterfront hotel next to the convention district, where ballroom calendars run on conference schedules.
Hilton San Diego Mission Valley
One LIV event on record. A central hotel ballroom that suits groups coming in from across the county.
Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines
One LIV event on record. A La Jolla hotel beside Torrey Pines Golf Course, close to the coast.

Only properties in our records appear here. We have no logged nights in Coronado or the Gaslamp Quarter yet, so we don’t claim them. If your venue isn’t listed, the band still travels. The planning call just starts from the venue’s AV sheet instead of our own notes.

Lawn ceremony, ballroom reception
Resorts like the Grand Del Mar often split the day. Vows happen outdoors and dinner moves indoors. Plan a small acoustic or string group outside, then a five-piece or larger band inside once the dance floor opens.
La Jolla terraces and ballrooms
Ocean-view receptions often start on a terrace where wind and neighbours set the volume. A trio or sax feature holds the cocktail hour. The full band waits inside.
Bayfront and Mission Valley ballrooms
Large hotel ballrooms can be split with airwalls and shared with other events. We need ceiling height, stage size and the house AV rules early so the system fits the room.

- Published prices
- About $5,000 to start for a party band and $7,000 for a wedding band, as published on this page. The wedding figure is a five piece: one singer and four musicians. More players and more production raise the quote.
- Travel
- The roster is based at 2651 Fairfax Ave. in Culver City, about 120 miles north. Send the load-in window with your date so the crew can plan the drive around freeway traffic.
- Sound
- Systems are sized to the room, or we plug into house audio where the hotel requires it. Toast mics run through the same desk as the band.
- Lighting
- Vlad Bazaria, our lighting designer, draws the plans in-house. When lighting is booked you see renderings before the event.
- Lineup size
- Duos and trios for cocktail hours, five pieces for most receptions, bigger builds for large ballrooms.
- Music
- Dance covers, wedding sets, Latin, swing, bossa nova and cocktail jazz. Ceremony music on request.
- Since
- LIV was founded in 2017.

Janeiro
Bossa nova and samba from a trio or quartet. It works well for a La Jolla terrace at sunset, where guests want a soundtrack they can still talk over.

Traditional jazz with a Sinatra and Dean Martin feel and full horn arrangements. It suits hotel galas and rehearsal dinners that want class more than volume.

A saxophonist who can play over a DJ or over recorded tracks. Use it for a grand entrance, a cocktail set, or to add a live player to a DJ-led night.

How the music runs, ceremony to last song
Most of our San Diego record is weddings, so here is the usual order of a wedding day.
Ceremony
Strings, cello duo or acoustic guitar for the processional, often outdoors on a lawn or garden. The group is small so it can move quickly to the cocktail area afterwards.
Cocktails
Janeiro, a sax feature or a jazz trio plays while photos are taken. The goal is atmosphere that leaves room for conversation.
Grand entrance and dinner
The full band brings the couple in and then plays softly through dinner. Toasts go through the band’s mics, so the planner doesn’t need a separate AV crew.
Dance floor
First dance, then the dance sets. Some couples keep the band until the end. Others switch to a LIV DJ for the last hour, and the Grand Del Mar record already includes both.

The published starting point is a five-piece at $7,000. Add singers, horns or a percussionist when a big ballroom needs more energy.
Party and cover bands
Birthdays, anniversaries and house parties. The published party band starting point is about $5,000.
Strings and acoustic
A string quartet, a cello duo or a harpist for the vows, booked from the same company as the reception band.
DJ band

Before you ask for a San Diego quote
- Name the property and the room. At the Grand Del Mar we can start from our own notes. Anywhere else, ask the venue for its AV rules and send them over.
- Say whether the ceremony is outside. An outdoor ceremony usually means a second, smaller setup and its own power plan.
- Bayfront hotels share dates with big conventions. Hold the ballroom and the band on the same day so neither falls through.
- Tell us your load-in time. The crew drives down from Culver City, so an early answer keeps travel simple.
- Choose band only, band then DJ, or DJ with live sax before you get a quote. That choice changes the price more than anything else.
